Mission: Magic Mirror
Location: Deck 1, Observation Lounge

On:

It was early, too early for a meeting. Call it a quirk of being long-lived but Evan still required less sleep than his human counterparts. Which lead to his newest late-night hobby: crocheting. He had already created several blankets for some members of the Operations team under his belt.

As for his team, they skulked into the Observation Lounge less bright-eyed than he. Some yawned. Others carried carafes of whatever hot caffeinated liquid they preferred. Either way, they looked like the walking dead.

"I am sorry to call you all here so early, but we must get things moving for the road ahead," Gahs said looking about the room just as everyone was seated. "I have the duty rosters for the week and have coordinated with Engineering to address some of the minor repairs that we can do to lighten their load."

"Also..." He paused. Someone was hedging on a question. It was the quiet yet burly enlisted officer who sat in the corner. He was Terran, with a Latin heritage, gray eyes, and dark stubble.

"Yes Petty Officer Cano? You have a question?"

"I am sorry," Cano had an inquisitive look on his face.

"You can ask anything in this room, Nick, there's no filter with me. I have no ego to bruise."

All eyes turned to Cano and he felt it. At least that's the impression Gahs was receiving from him. "Well, sir, we've heard some things-uh-about you. And was wondering if they were-uh-true?"

"Like what?"

Another officer chimed in; an Andorian Female, V'Ceres. Her antennae moved downward. "Well sir, the rumor is that you're...old"

"Old," Gahs's face turned red. "Old...compared to what?"

Cano shifted in his chair. In fact, Gahs noticed they all did when he asked that question. He laughed. "Of course I am old. Why the hesitancy to ask? I am 210 years old by Terran Standards."

Their eyes widened. "Humans and Andorians," He whispered. "Look when you've seen as much as I have you'll find that keeping secrets becomes less important. So don't worry about holding back. I'd rather we all never have to keep things hidden. Besides, I would know if you were anyway. Got it?"

The crew nodded.

"Good, now about those upgrades..."

End:
