A walk among the flowers

Location: Arboretum by the Concert Hall

The odd couple found themselves walking the arboretum at the concert hall. It was stunning as the flowers and trees were all in bloom. They were in the middle of the rose garden, walking one of the many trails.

"Well, this place is stunning. I love flowers." Walking in unison with his step.

Dived took in the scenery around them. "This is amazing. I have never seen anything like this. There is nothing like this on Cardassia and I haven't spent much time planetside since I left. I am more used to being surrounded by metal." He turned to Caressa. "I have started to realize there is beauty outside of what an can build."

Smiling and looking at him. "There is beauty in everything, one just has to find it." ::rolling her eyes:: Did I just sound like a philosopher?

A thousand thoughts raced through Dived’s mind. “I guess I just stopped looking. Ever since I was a teenager I have only seen the ugliness of hate and anger. First from my people for refusing to support the Dominion and then from others for being a member of a race that joined it. You are the first person to treat me like I am not a monster because of my genetics. You make me feel like a living being.”

" No one should ever be judged on their past. We all have issues, or skeletons in our closet. Lord knows I have a few. I just chose to be better about things and not bitter." She took a step and winced. Ouch! looks like I picked up a pebble in my shoe, do you mind if I sit for a moment?" Seeing a nearby bench and pointing.

Dived instinctually picked her up and carried her to the bench. He got nervous again and ran his hand through his hair. “Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. I have a habit of that when I am around you.”

She gasped for a moment, then giggled and her arms went instinctively around his neck. “ You don’t have to apologize for being chivalrous. I know a lot of people who could learn a few things from you.” When she was seated she took her pump off by the strap and shook it till the tiny pebble fell out. “ Well, all that for such a tiny thing.” She placed her shoe back on, the slit in her dress showed her thigh about ¾ of the way. She adjusted quickly, not wanting to make him feel more uncomfortable.

Dived noticed the momentary glimpse of thigh and again his mind was a tempest of thoughts. “The only thing I can teach someone is how to properly purge the waste reclamation system.” He looked into her eyes and seemed to get lost. “Sometimes a small thing like a moment can make a huge difference.”

"Exactly, like a pebble in a shoe." She leaned down and picked up the small pebble. She took his hand and placed the pebble in it. " A memento of our evening" She smiled. " So can I talk you into going back to the ballet and the party?"

That was not the response Dived was hoping for. He tried to hide his disappointment and placed the pebble in his pocket. "I will go anywhere as long as you're with me.

"Oh Your disappointed, the only reason I mention it is that the others will be looking for us. I don't care about their opinions, I just don't want to disappoint Millie, she went to great lengths to invite everyone." We can always walk some more afterwards." Smiling.

He had totally forgotten about her being an empath. "Um, I wasn't disappointed about going back to the party."

"Then what where you disappointed about?" smiling

Dived went for broke and kissed the doctor. As soon as he realized what he had done, he instantly felt ashamed. "I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." He turned around and walked away.

"So you kiss a girl and walk away?" She said loudly as he walked away, she felt a bit hurt.

He stopped in his tracks and felt even worse about himself. "I thought I had crossed the line. I have never felt like this about anyone before and I had to act."

She came up behind him, took him by the shoulders and turned him around. " We have to admit there is an attraction between us, but we both have a lot of skeletons. I say we explore our closets and enjoy the ride. It might get bumpy, are you in? She looked him straight in the eye, and planted a soft but resolute kiss on his lips.

He smiled in a way he never had before. "Like I said earlier, I will go anywhere with you. You're gonna have to work hard to lose me." With that, he gave her another kiss before bending his arm so she could place hers in his. "I think you're right. We should return to the party.

Smiling she placed her arm in his. "We make a very interesting couple" Pulling his arm close, walking along with him.
