Reporting in

Posted on Thu Feb 18th, 2021 @ 3:33pm by Captain Henry Crow & Commander Edra Crow & Warrant Officer Michael Joustra

Mission: Special Delivery
Location: Ready room

He was tired and carrying his duffelbag wasn't helping. Over 40 years in the fleet and all he had was in the one bag, a bag he had carried around for as long. He nodded to the petty officer as he left the transporter room and headed for the bridge.

As he walked to the turbolift he realized he was wearing his civilian clothing. A two week journey from one sector to another. The layover wasn't helping either. He entered the turbo lift and nodded to the crewman already there.

"Bridge!" he grunted and looked at the doors closing and the familiar hum of the turbolift started.

"New to the ship, sir?" The young creeman asked.

"Yes." He said, giving the crewman the once over. "New to the fleet, son?"

"Yes, sir. I'm in engineering" The kid said proudly.

" Ah! Well, good luck, kid." He nodded as the young man exited the turbolift.

A few seconds later Michael arrived on the bridge. He nodded to the officer in charge and headed to the captain's s ready room. In the old days people would have stopped him, but for some reason he emitted the air of belonging on a ship and on the bridge. He hated the door chimes in Starfleet so he knocked on the door.

On the other side, Edra looked at Henry from across his desk. She'd been giving him a briefing on the last shift, and the actual knock had caught them both off-guard, causing her to pause, mid sentence. She lifted a brow, letting Henry give word to allow the unknown person into his ready room.

"Maybe they couldn't find the chime," he gave her a grin. "Come on in."

Joustra entered the ready room giving a nod to the XO and then the CO. He dropped his bag and produced his PADD and placed it on the Captain's desk.

"Warrant officer Michael Joustra, reporting in as order, sir" Clearly stating his rank and name. And placing his gaze just above the Captain's head.

"Welcome aboard." Henry picked up the PADD. "You have a varied history of service which I think will be to the benefit of this ship and it's crew. I trust that our security officers will be a fine oiled machine under your guidance. I'll let you get settled and meet your security personnel. We can touch base later." He turned to Edra, his expression asking if she had anything to add.

Edra took the PADD once Henry had looked it over and offered it to her. She remembered seeing Mr. Joustra's profile, and approving his placement. She updated information on the PADD before handing it back the officer. "Normally you and I would meet to discuss your assignment upon arrival, but everything is in place, and I've included your quarters assignment in your files. That should take care of everything, unless you have any questions for me."

"Well, not really. Just a small request not to be assigned to away team missions. In 40 years i kind of figured out I am carrying a target and in about 400 away team assignments I got shot at 250 times, stabbed at 40 times and burnt 10 times. So I kind of would like to be second or third choice on the whole beaming down and be nice to the natives, lark, ma'am" he took the padd and checked his quarter assignment.

Edra raised a brow. It seemed a bit odd for a request from someone in his position, but perhaps he had a point. "We will see what we can do, but can't promise that will always be the case. The makeup of the away teams always depends on the needs of the mission and the strengths of those being put on it."

"I probably know someone who wouldn't mind stepping into the action now and then. I think you and she will get along amazingly well. Again, welcome aboard."

"Thank you, ma'am, thank you, sir. If that is all I have to check in with the doctor. " He picked up his bag and looked at them waiting for his 'dismissed'.

Henry nodded. "Dismissed."
