Back in the Saddle

Mission: To Boldly Go
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: ETA 72 Hours

Henry glanced around his Ready Room from his seat at the desk. It'd been too long. It wasn't as if he hadn't enjoyed himself. The ranch had always been his first love and to celebrate with family and friends on the event of the wedding was something none of them would forget. The fact it'd gone off without a hitch was amazing. No explosions, no attacks, no intergalactic entanglements. He wasn't sure if they were overdue for a nice happy day like that or if it meant they were now due for more trouble.

He looked down at the mess of PADDs across his desk. They were still about 3 days out from Starbase 621. About the time they got there they'd rendezvous with Chance and Banks returning from their honeymoon. Starfleet had prioritized them to see what was up with the Tzenkethi and as always there were more questions than answers.

The war between them and the Federation was decades old and they'd mainly been quiet aside from the near disaster during the Dominion War but that wasn't their doing. Lately though reports of Tzenkethi ships raiding outposts and essentially acting like pirates outside of their border was enough to get Starfleet's attention. Now it was up to his ship to settle the waters.

He reached back and grabbed his coffee out of the replicator before taking a sip and moving onto some of the refit reports. After their trek through another galaxy Starfleet was keen to learn all about the alien shielding, weaponry and the like they'd assimilated...God he hated that word....on their journey. And of course by keen to learn that meant it had been stripped off and sent to the labs to be studied. So his ship was now as it had been. He'd been lying if he told anyone that didn't disappoint him, he'd been hoping to use the new toys against old adversaries if the day came.

He finished with a quick memo from Starfleet Medical. They'd uploaded a new EMH, based off a renowned surgeon. He figured that any extra set of hands couldn't hurt and immediately regretted that assumption.
