Calling Mr. Murphy

Posted on Mon Jun 28th, 2021 @ 12:13pm by Captain Henry Crow

Mission: Knock Knock
Location: The Bridge

K'tlah sat in the center chair with his eyes keenly on the viewer. His prey had been sitting motionless for several hours until the Klingons had noticed that something had been transported off of the ship. His first instinct was to decloak and destroy whatever it was but his prize was worth the patience.

Slowly the Bird of Prey slipped closer to the Federation ship but his science officer called for his attention.

"I am reading a growing source of energy onboard. Like nothing I have ever seen."

"A weapon?"

"Possible but i could also be a new form of fuel."

"Keep monitoring."

---------------------

Henry arrived on the bridge shortly after the device had been delivered. "Alright folks it's time we head home." He hadn't even sat down when his com chirped.

"Ensign Moro to Captain Crow. We're less than three minutes until the next cycle."

"I'm going to guess going to warp is a bad idea."

"I would advise against it, just incase."

"Fine, let me know when it's over."

He glanced to a few on the Bridge. "I guess three minutes won't hurt."

---------------------

The Klingons huddled around the monitor. "This is astounding!"

K'tlah paced behind them. "How can we take it?"

"We don't know what it is, it could destroy us."

"Coward!" K'tlah pulled his disruptor and vaporized the man on sight.

The science officer held up a hand. "Something is happening."

---------------------

Right on time the orb began to fluctuate and ripple as it sought more power. It unleashed an aura which connected to the Mercutio's grid and began absorbing energy.

As the ship went dark, Moro tapped buttons on her PADD to divert. "This is different." She looked to Edruj. "It's not pushing the energy back into the system.

Henry noticed the lights not coming back on as they had before. He was glad not to have the Counselor's 'I told you so' expression nearby.

---------------------

K'tlah's eyes widened. "Their shields are down."

His tactical officer agreed. "They have lost main power, weapons, all of it!"

"Lock on a transporter beam to that energy source and bring us out of cloak, weapons at the ready."

---------------------

Moro was about to try something else when the orb suddenly rippled in a transporter beam and was gone. The ship regained emergency power almost automatically.

"Captain we have a problem."

Henry stared on the viewscreen at the Bird of Prey floating right in front of them.

"Tell me about it."
