A Second Opinion

Mission: Special Delivery
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Arrival at Starbase 134

With the ship having arrived at Starbase 134 to unload whatever it was they had brought with them...Henry specifically ordered her not to snoop...Patricia made her way down to Sickbay for a follow up appointment for her repaired leg. She was shown to a biobed and waited a second before the EMH who had performed her corrective surgery appeared. He always managed to look eternally annoyed.

"Ah, Agent Ban..." he stopped as if he was over-writing a file. "Crow. You've changed your name since we last met."

"Yes, I thought I needed a change."

"I see. And have you been avoiding strenuous physical activity since we repaired your leg?"

"Mostly. I've hunted treasure and killed some dragons and that sort of thing."

Again, the annoyed look. "I see." He activated the bed and paid careful attention as the sensor sweeped back and forth over her leg. "Well you've healed nicely, dragons and all. I think you're ready for normal activity levels."

"Doctor, I need an objective opinion on something unrelated."

"All my opinions are objective, I'm a program."

"Yes, well, I need to know the history of Doctor Teid Reppep. He was a gene..."

"Doctor Tied Reppep, 69, born on Bajor. Served as the Director of Health for the Federation with a specialization in genetics for over a dozen years until retiring six years ago."

'Yes that's the one. Do you have a last known location for him?"

"Yes I do." He watched her.

"Can you tell me?"

"His last known location was on Diarta II. But that was verified three years ago. Might I ask why you want to know his location."

"I have questions about his research."

"Reproductive cloning."

"How did you know that?"

"I'm a walking talking quantum computer. I know everything. Cross referencing his research with your known condition made that probability 99.6%."

"Don't tell anyone I asked you about him or what you told me."

"Mrs. Crow, you don't have the security level to enforce that command but I do respect Doctor-Patient confidentiality."

"Thank you." She hopped off the bed. As she was walking away he spoke again.

"If you do find him, be very careful. There's a reason he's in self exile."

She nodded and left Sickbay as the EMH dematerialized. She headed to her office and tried her best to focus on the files in front of her but her mind kept nagging her. She sighed and activated one of her monitors to see how far away Diarta II was from their current position. The answer was dissappointing: too far.

She'd promised Chance no more running off on solo missions and even if this was for their family she didn't want to break the reforming bonds. She'd have to talk to him and then try and make arrangements if he agreed.

She went back to work but couldn't help but think of what might be.
