A new day

Mission: Special Delivery
Location: On surface/sick bay
Timeline: current Mission

Shore leave went by so quickly, the kids were not back yet. She knew that when Uncle Mikos took them that it would be a slightly extended trip. She knew they were having fun from the nighttime calls from them. The Festival was always fun. They were making memories that they would remember forever.
Heading around the cabin, covering furniture. Placing dirty items in the reclamation system. One last breeze through the cabin and all was in order once again. She missed this place at times, but it was time to get back to work. She sent a message to her uncle to let him know that she was headed back on board but knew the children where in good hands. She grabbed a few books off the shelves to take with her. There was just something about turning the pages and snuggling in a blanket and a cup of coffee. She stepped out on the porch with her bags and such and locked the door.
The shuttle had just touched down in the yard. As she stepped in, she took one more look back. Until next time.

She had visited her quarters long enough to drop her bags and leave. She wanted to see the new upgrades that were installed in sick bay. She was excited to have new toys. She walked into her new sickbay, letting her finger trail over a new countertop. It was bright and inviting. They had taken her suggestions and made use of wasted space. It afforded her staff the ability to have more work room space. They had been given new diagnostic equipment. All new tricorders with the latest technology. She could almost squeal with excitement. There were a few more office spaces added. Chase would finally have his own space. He deserved it; he had been such an asset to the team. The maternity center had also had a facelift. The trauma and surgical bays had been refitted also. Her staff would be excited as she was. She walked into her office. Much to her disappointment they took her chair. Well, it could not all be perfect. She sat in it. She felt the eyeroll start. It was not comfortable at all. Her pictures were all hung with care, and she appreciated that. Her family was huge when you added everyone in. She leaned back in the chair. Gave it a spin. She could not wait for her staff to see it. She pulled a padd out and started on the new schedule. Looks like they picked up a few more staff, that would help even things out in the schedule. She took a moment to schedule some trainings in the holodeck for the new equipment, some emergency response drills for good measure. She had not been briefed on what would be on the Merc’s plate when they left earth. Better to be prepared. She also set up an appointment with Millie. Just to discuss what happened and just in general. She stood and walked back out into the refitted sick bay. Her sick bay. She looked around again and nodded in approval. “Computer dim lighting to 20 percent.” The door opened and she walked out with a satisfied look on her face.
