Off We go

Posted on Wed Dec 30th, 2020 @ 6:55pm by Commander Caressa Melanick

Mission: Shore Leave
Location: Melanick Quarters
Timeline: TBD

Caressa did not need to be told twice, she packed up herself and the kids. Arriving at her quarters she packed bags for everyone. She did not need to pack much, because they had most everything at the ranch. The kids where about as spastic as she was.
She sat at her desk to finish up a last few communications, to staff and other crew members. She checked the last crew roster to button everything up. One letter to her Uncle Mikos, inviting him to the Ranch. She sent a note to Henry, to see if they wanted the kids for anytime while they where on leave. She then sent a note to her favorite spa, she was going to get some pamper time in.
The very last thing, where invitations to a party for the senior female staff. She thought it might be nice to invite everyone to the ranch. Nothing quite as huge as the last BBQ at the Crows. Just some light refreshments and drinks and girl time.
The last few months were just nut’s! Hardly any time for self or family. Not just herself, but for the whole crew. She admittedly had separated herself from everyone. Things were just to emotional for her on many levels. Family issues, staff issues, her own personal issues. She wondered how she had made it without losing her mind.
The twins came tumbling in the room, bringing her back to reality. Instantly jumping in her lap and wrapping their arms around her neck. She jumped. “What has gotten into you two?”
Mom, can we stay with Dad? She grinned. “I have already sent him a message to see when he would like to have you guys. If it’s in their schedule. I am not sure what they have planned. Can you guys live with that? They both giggled, nodded and bounced off the walls. Have you guys packed your stuff? Games, toys, books and homework? Galina you have that stellar cartography project due!
Galina rolled her eyes. “Of course, mom. I am going to set up the telescope in the barn. I want to do a comparative study of differences between earth and home. Caressa just shook her head. Who are you and what have you done with my daughter? Galina just rolled her eyes. “Mom really?”
She is just a nerd! Gavin yelled from the back of their quarters. “I am going to get dad to teach me how to ride.” She just laughed. Her children were just as different as night and day.
I am sure there will be plenty of time for everything. Rest and relaxation where at the top of her list, and the bottom too. She intended to do mostly nothing. She threw a few books into her bag.
Ok you two, let’s go hit the shuttle craft, just received the schedule and we are on the first one out.
