Checking In Captain.. I Mean XO

Vex took a deep breath and smooths out his uniform before reaching a hand up and ringing the chime on the door. His foot tapping rapidly on the floor waiting for the okay to come in. Another tapping noise echoed through his head as the foot taps got more pronounced the longer he waited.

Edra sat at her seat, behind her desk, looking through purchase requests and the like. She heard the chime, but finished reading the entry before her concentration got away from her, delaying her acceptance. "Come in!" The door opened, and she put the PADD down as the newcomer entered the room. "Hello."

Stepping into the room Vex glanced around before making eye contact with the woman behind the desk with a smile and closing the door. "LtJg Vex Aldrin reporting in" He confidently spoke through a level tone.

"Mr. Aldrin! Welcome aboard," she said, pulling another PADD that had been waiting for his arrival. "How is our newest Engineering Officer?"

"Doing well so far, I found the office with no issues so that is a plus" Vex smiled and sat down on a chair in front of the XO. "Thankfully I was able to study the lay out of the ship before i came aboard"

Edra looked the PADD over, refamiliarizing herself with the recent addition. "It looks like this is your first Akira-class ship, no?"

"It is yes! I am really excited to be on this ship and working with the crew, I have heard a lot of good things about it," Vex smiled and sat up a bit more.

Edra looked up with a smile. "We do like to think of ourselves as a family here. I don't think you'll have a problem fitting in. Do let the Chief Engineer know, and he'll point you to the main differences you need to know about her." Edra tapped the screen of the PADD and handed it across the desk to Vex. "Here is your quarters assignment, and anything else you need to know. Do you have any questions for me?"

"I think that is good! I might have some later on but i'm sure I can get then answered then.." Vex took the PADD and scrolled through looking at the quarters and smiled a bit. "I already feel the family welcome and I am happy to be here!"

The XO's smile widened. "I'm glad to hear it. I'll check on you in a day or two to see how you're settling in. If there's nothing else, you're dismissed."

"Thank you" Vex stood up from the chair and made his way to the door, stepping out and letting it close behind him. Letting himself take a deep breath as it closed.
