Touching a Nerve

Mission: Side Stories
Timeline: After "Agony"

Henry was still fuming an hour after his conversation with Millie. He had gone straight to the Bridge and into the Ready Room without more than a nod to the OIC. From there he'd mainly paced, unable to sit for more than a few moments at a time. A part of him did feel bad for having laid into her so much. She was doing her job. But the majority of him agreed with his sentiment when he told her sometimes she ought to just mind her own business.

The whole situation with himself, Edra, and Caressa would have been complicated and just a mess by themselves. Children added into it merely took a difficult situation and made it unbelievably mindblowingly disastrous.

But after all these years there had been a happy medium found. There was no more tension at least visible and palpable. There was a few smiles and most importantly the kids didn't seem affected. They were all together now and as the years came he felt and hoped what little tension remained would vanish.

But that wasn't good enough for her. She had to dig. She had to rip the scabs off and expose the wounds. That girl had no idea what it was like to be in this situation. To raise kids. To love the love of one's life and regain them in a story you couldn't find in a holofilm.

Well he was done with getting the third degree. From now on his thoughts were his own and if she didn't like it, it'd be too damned bad.
