Do You Hear What I Hear?
Location: Cargo Bay 1
Henry stood in the cargo bay watching the three synthetic engineers putting the final touches on the surveilence device.
"Think this will work?"
He jumped at the voice of his daughter in law. He knew better than to ask how she'd gotten in or how she'd snuck up on him.
"If what they say is true that Klingons and Gorn are working together to start a conflict it better work.
Patricia nodded in agreement. "So this thing will pinpoint their base of operations and then we swoop in and wipe them out?"
"Someone gets to sweep in. I don't know if it would be us, as much as you're itching for a fight."
"Does it show that much?"
"You've logged twenty-six hours of holodeck firearms training in the last two weeks. Thank you for leaving the safeties on, by the way."
"Changing your life isn't as easy as it seems to be when you think it up."
"Seldom is but you know I sympathize. I used to go on away missions and I was chomping at the bit to go on the attack. I traded that in for a big comfy chair and now I watch instead of act."
"I heard you left your com on your desk."
"Her weakness is ice cream. Give her a bowl big enough and she'll spill the beans on anything."
"I'll keep that in mind when the boys start calling."
That brought a snorting laugh. "I've never thought about that before. Those girls won't get a date till they're forty."
"Won't bother me."
The engineers looked to them and gave a very awkward thumbs up gesture.
"Alright it's time." Henry tapped his badge. "Bridge the package is ready. Are we in position?"
"Yes Sir. Ready to transport on your mark."
The device which looked to be about the size of a food vendor's cart rippled away in a transporter beam.
"Well, that's done at least."
"Yea, but what do we do about them?" Patricia motioned at the engineers.
"Henry looked down at her. "Want some live target practice?"
Her grin said it all.
