Sun, Surf, and...

Posted on Mon Nov 30th, 2020 @ 3:00pm by Captain Henry Crow & Commander Brielle Jayde

Mission: Shore Leave
Location: Casperia Prime- holodeck program
Timeline: Out of time, just for fun!

Millie spread her beach towel out on the warm sands of Casperia Prime. She kicked off her sandals, letting the warm grains of sand between her toes. She adjusted her sunglasses, tucking a stray wisp of hair out of her face as it blew out of her braid in the warm breeze.

Banks lay on a blanket soaking in the sun. Even though she knew it wasn't real and she wouldn't be getting a real tan it still felt great. She could hear Kieran playing a few feet away building a sandcastle.

Brielle leaned back on her arms near where Banks was, listening to her kids playing in the sand. She was doing her best to make sure they didn't get to close to the water. Also, that they didn't go after Kieran's sandcastle.

Millie gave a soft smile. "No worries, Brielle. I have the safety measures turned on maximum." She seated herself on her towel. "They can get wet, but they can't wander out very far."

Brie shrugged, "Parent eye always watching, Millie. I figured there were safeties in place. I also don't want them destroying Kieran's castle."

Chance rejoined the group, walking from the beach bar with a drink in each hand. "Thanks, Brie, but he'll be fine." He handed Trisha her drink in a coconut, "Your drink, my dear," he said with a smile before putting his own drink next to his lounge chair.

"Thank you, handsome." Banks sipped her drink watching him as he headed down to the kids.

He nodded and walked the short distance to the in-progress, abstract sand castle. "Hey, Munchkins," he called out to Brie's kids, his nickname for them when he saw them for their check-ups. "Come join us." He turned to Brie. "I'll keep an eye on them so you can relax, enjoy yourself."

Millie sat on the towel, wiggling her toes into the sand. "How have you been, Brie?"

"You don't have to do that, Chance. But I appreciate it. Relaxing doesn't happen very often with those two running around." Both Ossan and Aysel ran over to Chance and tackled him down into the sand. Brie only smirked. "If you're sure..."

She then looked to Millie. "The busy life of the second officer. And the mother of two."

Caressa was lounging a bit back from the beach but within watching distance of Galena and Gavin. She had a pink drink with a purple umbrella. She was sipping just taking in the sun.

Banks watched him and all the kids from behind her sunglasses and finished her drink. She'd been planning a conversation for awhile since she and Millie had returned and had been debating when to approach him but as she watched she felt more and more this may be the time.

Chance fell over backwards with two little ones climbing on top of him. All the laughter caught Kieran's attention, and he abandoned his pile of sand to join in.

Brie smirked at the pile on Chance. "Okay, maybe I should be glad I'm over here and not over there. But those two will have sand, even if it is holographic, everywhere."

Vex placed a blanket down a bit away and set a small bag down beside him before laying out on the towel and soaking in the sun. Though not real it still felt great to relax a bit and feel the wind.

Millie smiles at the new arrival. "Vex! I'm glad you got my invitation!"

"ah yes! I was happy to be invited in!" Vex smiled at Millie before laying back on his beach towel.

Banks finished her drink and walked down to Chance and the kids. "Wanna take a walk?" She nodded her head down the beach.

"Go on, Chance. I've got the little ones." Brie said with a smile.

The tone of the question was such that he didn't think he should turn it down. He wavered between worried and telling himself that he was being overly concerned. Either way, he guessed she had somethings serious to tell him. With a nod to Brie, he unearthed himself from the toddlers and stood up, setting off away from the small group with his wife.

Banks just walked for a few minutes before looking his way with a grin. "So, I've been thinking about something as of late and I wanted to get your opinion."

He raised a brow, "Oh?"

"I've been reading about some procedures and therapies for people like me who have uh....I think they call it reproductive issues. Most of them seem ethical and above board. What would you think?"

He stopped in his tracks. This was the last thing he'd expected her to say. But she spoke as if it was new medicine, and he hadn't heard of anything. After all, she didn't merely have reproductive issues...her entire reproductive system had been removed. The fact that he hadn't heard of anything new made him skeptical about how above board it was. "I think I want to see how ethical this procedure is myself. But, I didn't know you were looking?" And that was some of the surprise for him, as the last time they'd discussed this, she had been the one to shut it down. He supposed that had been a while ago now, though.

She turned toward him, squinting in the sun. "Okay, I'll show you everything I've been reading. But, uh, if it pans out...you wanna have a baby?"

A grin slowly spread across his face as her question sank in. He knew what his answer was. "Of course I do!" He reached for her hand and pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. "Why didn't you say anything sooner?"

She hugged him tight. "I've had a lot to think about lately but everything tells me its the right time."

He kissed the top of her head. "Show me everything you have about these procedures when we get back. I'll do a thorough check on their validity, even if I have to ask Dr. Melanick." The possibility was incredible, but he wasn't taking unnecessary chances with her.

She grinned against him feeling a weight lifted.

Chance pulled away, looking down at her. "So, should we introduce the boy to the water?"

She nodded, walking back to the kids while holding his hand.

Caressa smiled as she watched the children. She picked up the book she brought and decided to dig in.

Scooting down to where the kids were, Brie's feet immediately started to get buried in the sand. "Looks like avoiding sand between my toes isn't going to happen this time." She smiled at the kids and let them continue.

Vox beamed onto the surface wearing sunglasses, a tank top, board shorts and flip-flops. He held a towel in one hand and a frisbee tucked under the other. He winced even while wearing the glasses as his eyes adjusted to the bright sun above before heading into the sand toward the others.

"Didn't expect to see you join us, Vox," Brielle teased as she had water from a sandcastle bucket dumped on her sand covered feet.

Caressa watched the interchange and rolled her eyes, "Hes such a man ho" stated under her breath and smiled. The kids caught her eye, "Hey not so far out please!" The twins gave her a evil look and came into shore a bit.

Brie smirked. "Millie said there were safety measures to keep the kids safe, Caressa. So they'll get stopped too far out."

Millie chuckled softly, looking at Caressa over her sunglasses. Totally a man ho, she mouthed.

Caressa smiled and tilted her sunglasses up looked at Millie. " Totally" Then she laughed so hard she almost spilled her drink. "Oh damn, Opps! caught that one at the last minute." Placing the purple umbrella back in the drink. " There all better" then took a long drink. " Millie would you like one? Its called purple passion?"

Millie grinned. "That looks...really good. Yes, I'd love one."

"Excellent!" Caressa smiled and took a similar drink out of the cooler next to her and placed a umbrella in the drink and handed it to Millie. " Here ya go!

Eying the other two, Brielle looked back to Vox. "You don't have to go off by yourself. I'd join you but," she nodded to her buried feet.

Vox smirked and unfurled his towel in the breeze before laying it down next to Brie. "That won't be a problem at all, actually." He sat down and eyed her situation. "Random sand storm do that...?"

"If you call the children a sandstorm, then yes. I'm afraid of the buckets containing water next."

Vox sat down on his towel and felt the heat from the sand through the towel. "Isn't 'random sand storm' another term for kids?"

Brie shrugged. "On the beach? Yes."

He laid down on the towel and interlaced his fingers on his stomach. Although he didn't enjoy the sand so much, he did find the water itself to be pleasant. "Have you jumped in the water yet?"

An officer stepped into the program and walked straight to Henry. "Sir, we're one hour away. You asked to be alerted."

Henry nodded his thanks. "Thank you Lieutenant." As the man walked away he raised his voice a little to get their attention.

"Alright everyone we're an hour away from Earth and shore leave of the non-virtual kind. I'd suggest everyone head to quarters and finish getting packed up. Enjoy your time away, you've all earned it above and beyond."
